Amorphous solid dispersion is an important formulation strategy used to overcome a drug’s poor solubility and boost bioavailability. Through molecular mixing with a polymer in the amorphous state, the drug’s dissolution rate is greatly enhanced. This does not only lead to increased free drug concentration in solution, but also sometimes the generation of amorphous drug nanoparticles.
